Born in Washington, D.C. in 1950, and raised in Maryland's hunt
country, Lynn Wade was a professional horse woman for over 20 years
before becoming a full-time artist. Having always drawn animals as a
hobby, at age 40 Lynn picked up a paint brush for the first time. She
spent the next several years teaching herself to paint via animal
portrait commissions before seeking and gaining gallery representation.
For the first couple of decades in her career as an artist, equine art
dominated her gallery work but a move to the seabird-abundant west coast
of Florida added birds to her favorite subjects.
Lynn's art has been honored with inclusion in such prestigious shows as
Birds in Art and several Finalist / Honorable Mention wins in The
Artist's Magazine competition and placement wins in their Over 60
competition, Southwest Art's Artistic Excellence competition, the ARC
and OPA (Oil Painters of America) salon and national competition
exhibits. Her miniature work has garnered wins in the international
exhibits of MPSGS (Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society),
MASF (Miniature Art Society of Florida) and RMS (Royal Miniature
Society).
Lynn has been a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists (SAA)
since 2004. She has attained the highest honor in miniature art with her
inclusion in the Miniature Artists of America (MAA) and is also an
associate member of Oil Painters of America and of the Royal Miniature
Society in London.
